From your holiday apartment in La Tranche-sur-Mer, you won’t have far to go to reach the magical panorama of the long sandy beaches. What’s more, this little corner of the Atlantic coast benefits from exceptional sunshine! For shopping addicts, a few minutes is all you need to reach the town centre of La Tranche-sur-Mer on foot.

But this charming little seaside resort is also very well located. Just an hour’s drive away, you can be wowed by the Puy du Fou’s Cinescenie, an incredible night time show. Cross just one bridge - and you can walk peacefully through the charming flowered lanes of the Ile de Re. Alternatively, you can set off to admire the old stones of the famous Boyard Fort, which lies just off the coast of the Ile d’Aix (when it isn’t disturbed by guests from the TV show!). A cultural pitstop at the La Rochelle aquarium, to visit the 12,000 sea creatures from more than 600 different species, you’ll certainly learn a thing or two!

Something for the children? 
At the Residence de l'Ocean, you’ll enjoy direct access to the beach.  There, you can teach your little ones how to go shore fishing, or even to gather shellfish and crustaceans (shrimps, crabs, scallops, winkles...) Yum! On the menu tonight! What’s more, La Tranche-sur-Mer is a seaside resort certified “Family Plus”, we’re all set for keeping the kids happy: the Pirate Island amusement park, the little tourist train, the aquatic centre, and the beach clubs...

Fancy a stroll through the colourful stalls of the Vendee markets? On Mondays and Thursday in La Tranche-sur-Mer, markets are held in the evenings. On site, you’ll taste melt-in-the-mouth Vendee brioche, take home a jar of mogettes or beans, and enjoy a glass of troussepinette, a flavoured wine often enjoyed as an aperitif!

Located just across from the Ile de Re, lies the pretty Tranche-sur-Mer, bathed in sunlight, packed with activities and a variety of landscapes. Dunes, lagoons, marshes...You’d think you were in California!

Set off one morning, cycling helmet firmly in place, to explore the miles and miles of “Velodyssee” cycling trails (30km in total!) around the coastal forest... Peddle a little further, and you’ll happen upon a wooden pontoon, ready to board the little boat and discover the captivating Poitevin marshlands. Also known as the “Green Venice”, the wetlands cover around 100,000 hectares... So you’d better get rowing! 

In La Tranche-sur-Mer, 13km of wide, open, south-facing beaches are ready to welcome all the ocean lovers. Spend your afternoons sunbathing on the golden sands, sea fishing, or testing out your surfing skills on the waves of the Terriere beach. And why not try out kitesurfing? Adrenaline junkies won’t be left out, there are always sand yacht records to be broken (as well as being left completely dishevelled, but it’s worth it!).
