You'll find mountains, lakes and rivers, not to mention the Massif Central's legendary volcanoes, some of which you can climb! It's the perfect destination to enjoy outdoor activities. Whether you're keen on sports or prefer more leisurely pastimes, you'll find plenty to see and do. Do you love mountain biking, paragliding or climbing? If you're a watersports fan, you'll love swimming in the volcanic lakes (don't worry these volcanoes have long been extinct!) or enjoy some canoeing. You can also admire the volcanoes as you head off on the stunning walks.

A holiday in the Puy de Dôme is more than just enjoying time in the countryside, it's also about sampling the tasty local food! Traditional dishes include truffade, a delicious cheesy potato bake, Auvergne charcuterie, cheeses such as Saint-Nectaire and other local produce.
If you're a history buff then in-between sampling some Auvergne ham, you can tour medieval castles and Gothic cathedrals in Clermont-Ferrand and characterful towns such as Saint-Saturnin and Besse-et-Saint-Anastaise.
