Residence Duguesclin***: holiday accommodation in Dinan
In the heart of the little fortified town, just a few hundred metres from Saint Malo and the mystical Mont Saint Michel, pack your things for our holiday accommodation in Dinan. Our residence bears the name of the famous knight Duguesclin, also nicknamed “the Black Dog of Broceliande”. Rest assured he’s watching over your holidays in Cotes d’Armor! And, although we don’t have any official titles, we’re doing our best so your trip is a total victory in terms of relaxation, and sharing good times with friends and family.
“Donemat en Breizh” and your holiday accommodation in Dinan
“Donemat en Breizh” means “Welcome to Brittany”, of course! Don’t speak Breton? Now’s your chance to pick up a few phrases, as a couple, with friends or with the whole family, during your stay in your holiday accommodation in Dinan.
Our 3-star residence offers studios of 20m2 (for 2 people) and holiday apartments from 40 to 67m2 (for 3 to 6 people). Even if the Breton city remains devoted to its medieval past, your home sweet home is carefully decorated, and equipped with all the mod cons:
- living room with LCD TV;
- kitchen equipped with microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge, ceramic hotplates, mini dishwasher and coffee machine;
- bathroom with shower or bath;
- for the little ones: highchairs, cots and changing tables are available (advance booking required);
- a free Wi-Fi connection;
- pets are also welcome (see tariffs below)!
At the ready for visiting Dinan’s castle? Our breakfast will get you ready for battle. With our bakery service (service limited, during the low season, to the french holidays), fresh bread and pastries are available to order at the reception area. Also, a parking space is available for your car.
For those who are worried about stuffing themselves with a good old kouign-amann, our outdoor pool, heated and covered, is ready and waiting for you to do some laps! Open from May to September.
Your Saint Malo accommodation, within the Cotes d’Armor
Knights and fair ladies, dive into eternal Brittany with your visit to Dinan. Stroll around the historic town centre, with its timber clad houses dating from the Middle Ages. A perfect walk, as the historic centre is located just a stone’s throw from your holiday accommodation in Dinan!
Then, visit the castle, with its spectacular keep and ramparts. Both offer breathtaking panoramas over the valley, which is bordered by the Rance river, the woods and the meadows. A 360-degree panorama allowing you to admire the city’s slate roofs.
Then, head for the stormy cliffs of Cap Frehel. Now’s your chance to trample across the moor, getting battered by the sea winds, a true emblem of the Armorican Massif. Spare a thought for the legendary buccaneers who took on the tides of the Atlantic, crashing against the pink sandstone rocks, 70m below.
Another page of the story begins with the fine sandy beaches and emerald coloured waters of Saint Malo. The port town, a former privateer stronghold, lay at the mouth of the Rance river. The famous writer Chateaubriand lies for all eternity on Grand Be island, while the renowned architect Vauban built the National Fort on another small rocky island, which can only be accessed at low tide.
And, dear travellers, now we’ve covered all of the islands, we’ve reached the most spectacular of all, that of Mont Saint Michel, between Brittany and Normandy. A UNESCO world heritage site since 1979, Mont Saint Michel is nicknamed the “Wonder of the West”. Want to impress your loved ones? Just remember this number: 157 metres. That’s the height of the Saint Michel statue!
Living the high life!
Our holiday accommodation in Dinan lies within an impressive building made from large stones and slate roof tiles, in keeping with the style of the local architecture. The building has been completely restored, and has been rejuvenated whilst maintaining its distinct personality, somewhere between manor house and military building. On the itinerary: walks through the foliage and relaxing besides the heated and covered pool!
Residence Duguesclin***: your St Malo accommodation in the countryside?
Visiting Dinan, means spending time in nature and heritage: the city welcomes a slower pace of life. Generally speaking, the Cotes d’Armor are a paradise for walkers and cyclists who take to the towpaths and trails. Keen on history and period costumes? Plan your stay to coincide with the Ramparts Festival, a European medieval festival.
Forget about the daily grind and get on board a boat on the Rance river. Boat trips depart from the little port of Dinan. Sporty types can take in the scenery in between the strokes of an oar, onboard their kayak, waving hello to the fishermen.
Another wonderfully green setting is La Corbinais golf club. Located 20 minutes outside Dinan, La Corbinais is a 9-hole golf course. Perfect for recharging your batteries. Newbies, don’t panic: there are beginners’ courses on offer too!
As a reward for your efforts, the cobbled streets of Dinan will lead you to the town’s shops and restaurants for a tasty break. Here you’ll find buckwheat pancakes, crepes with caramel, and most importantly, the gavottes: a crispy biscuit and symbol of the town. Of course, the recipe is top secret, and guarded by a druid...
Environmentally friendly holidays reflecting the natural landscapes of Brittany
As you know, together we can act to change the world on a global level, through responsible travel and the practice of sustainable tourism. Since 2017, Vacanceole has been committed to a CSR policy. This means that in line with the corporate social responsibility framework, the Group takes care to equip each of its sites with a specific environmental charter. During your stay in Dinan, you can take advantage of our precious advice to help you do your bit for the environment, through small steps implemented each day.
On its side, the Vacanceole Group has already made some important changes: low energy and LED bulbs, water flow regulators on the taps, recycled or local produce to highlight local know how, and being respectful of the environment.
Among all the creperies which exist in Dinan, all very good, one stands out particularly, that of Ahna. It is nevertheless classified among the 10 best restaurants of Dinan, and it is the oldest creperie of the city (a family business), that is to say if it is a sure value! The choice, the quality, the quantity and all with a smile...
This domain is that of a 16th century castle which belonged to the Parliament of Brittany and which hosts a zoological park with more than 400 animals. Children will be able to see the caretakers feeding the fragile animals, cross a maze in a corn field, enjoy the inflatable playgrounds...
You will be able to make many walks from the residence in Dinan, along the river and in the surroundings. You can easily make a circuit between Saint-Samson-sur-Rance and Pleslin-Trivagou to observe the largest menhir in Brittany and the alignment of megaliths of the Champ des Roches.
Visit the Ferme Bio de la Cour in Créhan, 20 minutes from Dinan. Visit this family farm with its animals and produce! Every day, you can watch the cows being milked! And it's free! Fancy a bike ride? Take a bike ride around Dinan and enjoy the beautiful countryside! You can even stop off for a picnic!
