Holiday apartments Mont Saint Michel - for an arc-angelic stay!
Now, let’s get one thing clear: Roz sur Couesnon is located in Brittany, whereas the Mont Saint Michel is in Normandy. Avoid getting caught up in this age-old row, as like the French saying goes, « Le Couesnon dans sa folie a mis le Mont en Normandie » “The Couesnon being silly, placed the Mount in Normandy.” While the two regions bicker over ownership of the famous mount, they both have magnificent scenery on offer and small villages which are great for wandering round.
The kindness of the locals in Roz-sur-Couesnon will turn your cheeks roz-y with delight. This inland region, where an authentic nature and the natural world reign, is also dotted with pretty museums: discover the Chappe Telegraph, the Maison des Polders and even the Saint Aubert Fountain. Next, head to the Mont Saint Michel. A UNESCO world heritage site, this exceptional headland is less than a kilometre in circumference. Take a detour to Mother Poulard’s house, the historic guest house for the mount’s pilgrims. Don’t worry about putting on a few extra pounds on holiday, the mount is covered with staircases heading in all directions so you’ll burn it off in no time - you’ll be light as a feather! And we don’t mean one of the bronze feathers from the wings of the majestic archangel statue who watches over the city!
Are you an adrenaline junkie? Become a corsaire (privateer) of the air whilst taking in the mount by microlight. Turns out, it’s safer than climbing the rock on foot anyway, as the tides can rise at break neck speeds!
Kouiname, Quoinamane, Kouignamman, Kouignagnagna…
No idea how to spell it - never mind say it? Our top tip during your weekend at the Mont Saint Michel, write Kouign-amann on a post-it note and take it everywhere with you - so you can show the waiter what you’d like to order at the restaurant! That’s your best shot at trying this excellent Bretton cake!
Residence Le Domaine du Mont*** : your seaside holiday accommodation
With a rich corsaire (privateer) past, the city of Saint Malo is worth visiting for at least a few hours. During a weekend at the Mont Saint Michel or a holiday in Normandy, don’t hesitate to make a small detour to get lost in the corn maze with the kids. This attraction is both fun and educational for the whole family, from ages 3 and up!
Fans of beautiful scenery and historic monuments will love the Petit Be Fort. Don’t forget your binoculars for making out the Tomb of Chateaubriand in the distance. Then, get your eye patch ready to set off for the Emerald Isle: your little pirates will love an expedition searching for precious stones.
Head back to the Mont Saint Michel bay to admire the dolphins and flamingos moving calmly against the swells of the tide. If you visit during the Spring equinox, you’ll witness the magic of the spring tides. Some settle down to watch this show from the top of the mount whereas others prefer to be at one with the swells and climb on board a canoe-kayak. Watch out for seasickness and the pirates who roam the bays of Saint Malo, we never found out what happened to those who were lost in the corn maze...
It is a restaurant in collaboration with the residence. It proposes a family cooking of the soil. It is a very nice address for families with a very good quality/price ratio.
To avoid the crowds, you may prefer to walk through the village in the early hours of the sun, or enjoy the evening illuminations on the abbey in the summer. I invite you to get lost between the main street and the alleyways, walk around the ramparts, visit the abbey and its museums.
Saint-Malo is a city of history and men. Almost entirely razed to the ground during the Second World War, it was rebuilt identically, and fortunately for us! Start by walking along its ramparts before rushing into the maze of narrow streets. You can visit the castle, its keep and towers, as well as the magnificent residences built by ship owners and privateers.
Ride through magnificent landscapes with breathtaking views of Mont-Saint-Michel. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced rider, whether you want to ride for a few hours or for a whole day... The choice is yours!
Discover the weekly market in Jullouville every Friday from 8am to 1pm, from June to September, it also takes place on Tuesday mornings. You'll find local produce, jewellery and creations by craftspeople, clothes...
