An ideally situated holiday residence in the Camargue
Welcome to the heart of Languedoc-Roussillon in the town of Le Grau-du-Roi, a charming little fishing port in the Gard that everyone holds in high regard! Its picturesque houses lost in nature, its Provencal market and its charming fishing port – a landscape out of a postcard!
Le Grau-du-Roi is a majestic town perching over the sea thanks to the Port Camargue:
- Biggest Mediterranean fishing port;
- Europe’s largest marina;
- Second biggest fishing port in the world, just after San Diego, no less!
5,000 moorings and 2,250 marinas spread over 186 hectares to float your boat.
This Mediterranean seaside resort will dazzle you with its 2700 hours of sunshine a year, its thousands of pink flamingos and its 18 km of sandy beaches. The perfect spot for a holiday residence in the Camargue! The untamed nature of Espiguette, the lac Salonique and the marina of Port Camargue are just a stone’s throw from your new home.
Among the other unmissable places of interest in the region, we strongly recommend that you admire the ranches of Dunes and Jullian in Aigues-Mortes, just 7 km from our holiday residence in Le Grau-du-Roi! On the programme: a visit to a stud farm of bulls and horses; a little trip back in time on the ramparts... Don’t forget that you are in the heart of the Camargue! Take advantage of its many faces (ponds, salt marshes and swamps) to let your mind escape from everyday life.
To be added to your bucket list: the Pont du Gard bridge, the town of Uzès and the arenas of Arles.
Residence Cap Camargue***: your seaside holiday accommodation
The Residence Cap Camargue*** will make you want to sail off! It’s the perfect place for a river escapade. Unless you are more down-to-earth. In that case, perhaps go for a hike or a horse ride.
Need a breath of fresh air? The Résidence Cap Camargue is surrounded by beaches that are easily accessible by car. The Port Camargue marina and Lac Salonique are just a few minutes away by car.
The famous Espiguette beach is just 8 minutes' drive from your accommodation! In front of you, a stretch of fine sand and the sea, inviting you to sunbathe or take a dip. If you're feeling more sporty, you can try your hand at kite-surfing or get on your bike and cycle to the town centre along the 5 km of cycle paths.
Do you like the French South and its boules games? Golf, mini-golf and petanque await you with impatience.
Don’t feel like swimming but want to learn something new instead? Dive into the Seaquarium at the Sea Palace to admire thousands of tropical fish, sharks and marine mammals. The nearby Aquarama aquatic park and the Amigoland amusement park will take you back to your childhood.
And finally, for the high rollers, your jackpot – the Flamingo casino!
It is the perfect place to spend a nice summer evening with friends. It is a beach restaurant, facing the sea, which offers fresh fish and bull. Be aware that the bull is very present in the plates in the area.
At the Equestrian Cabarets, you will appreciate an atmosphere where man, woman, horse and music mingle on themes: flamenco, equestrian fiestas, bodega or ephemeral shows. Children are welcome, just like at the manade du Levant of the breeder André Vitou and Pierrot le Camarguais: you will attend a bull ring followed by an old-fashioned evening around a meal and a flamenco show.
Aigues-Mortes is a must! We advise you to go there by bicycle by the cycle track: you will be able to admire the birds there. You will be able to go around the city, around the ramparts, then exit towards Marsillargues, pass the canal port and go up to the Carbonnière tower. You will have a magnificent view of the region in all seasons.
The Seaquarium is a scientific centre dedicated to the study, promotion and preservation of marine ecosystems. Enter more than 2,400m2 dedicated to marine life, with over 2,000 fish and more than 25 species of sharks, seals and sea lions...
Explore this magnificent nature park and admire endangered species such as pink flamingos, grey herons, white storks and little egrets.
Immerse yourself in the Camargue on board a 4x4 for a half-day safari. Discover breathtaking landscapes and numerous protected animals.
