Places to discover during your stay in our Beziers holiday rentals
The residence Le Fonserane*** benefits from a good location to discover the city's heritage. Our holiday residence in Beziers is particularly close to the site most appreciated by travellers: the Fonseranes Locks. This major architectural work on the Canal du Midi is a series of stepped locks, designed in the 17th century by the canal's architect, Pierre-Paul Riquet (you're not done hearing about him).
Some locks are still in use: you can discover these unique places by boat. The landscaped banks are perfect for a walk. By bike, you can go a long way, along the canal! But not without having seen the film shown at la Maison du Site. In an immersed cinema, you are literally transported back in time, through the history of the canal and its locks.
The Saint-Nazaire cathedral is visible from the locks. In fact, it overlooks the city and is visible from miles away. This enormous Gothic cathedral is well worth a visit and offers an incredible panorama far beyond Beziers. Especially if you have the courage to climb up to the bell tower! Rest your legs and mop up the sweat in the cloister and its garden.
With a holiday apartment in Beziers, you can explore the historical heart of this city of ancient origins. More recent, the Haussmann-style buildings are one of the city's best surprises. These magnificent facades date back to the time when Beziers grew rich from the wine trade.
Sit down at one of the terraces of the Paul Riquet alley (him again!) to eat local food. Don't forget to salute the statue of Riquet. You can really find him on every street corner!
A little brioche?
Discover the typical Biterrois brioche: the Saint-Aphrodise shell, a delight scented with orange blossom. It has been the subject of a competition in Beziers for decades. Succumb to this speciality at a Coque d'Or or Coque d'Argent award-winning bakery, such as Maison Rolland or Le Cristal, in the Paul Riquet alley.
Residence Le Fonserane***: your city trip in Beziers
The beaches are 15 km from your holiday apartment in Beziers. The good news is that the coastline of Valras-Plage has not been defaced by tall buildings. Enjoy the authentic decor and a small fishing port where you can buy fresh sea bream. The 4 km of beaches are renowned for their cleanliness, but swimming in the sea is not the only way to enjoy the coastline near Beziers. Several water sports are very popular here, including kitesurfing, parasailing and paddling. And at the marina, you can embark on a sea trip.
Visit the Domaine des Orpellieres, a natural area between the sea and the river (the Orb) by taking the paths. Less than 3 km away, reach the Serignan seaside. You will easily find a service provider to go horseback riding on the beach or canoeing on the Orb.
While staying in our holiday rental in Beziers, you can also visit wine estates, located in the town itself, or just next door, such as in Vias or Boujan-sur-Libron. And if you like mountain biking, there are several excellent wine tours that allow you to discover this essential aspect of the local culture.
Have a responsible holiday in Beziers
Whether you are already a fan of sustainable tourism or want to get started, the Vacanceole Group has been offering increasingly eco-friendly residences since 2017. Thanks to the Corporate Social Responsibility or "CSR" approach, our Beziers holiday accommodation follows the environmental charter. It calls for attention to anything that impacts on the environment.
Among the measures implemented in the residence Le Fonserane***, we can mention: water flow regulation, waste management or the choice of light bulbs, without forgetting the use of products from regional producers!
One of the important points of this approach is to provide information to our guests. So, in your holiday apartment in Beziers, discover a small eco-friendly guide, which will help you to have an eco-friendly holiday! It's nothing complicated, and then every little "eco-action" you may think of is also important, to contribute to the conservation of our environment!
For seafood lovers: take a trip to Les Enfants Terribles. Fresh and well-cooked products make mouth-watering plates.
Come and fish with family or friends for your own rainbow trout in a soothing setting. The Pont de Caylus fishing center provides all the necessary equipment so that you can leave with your jump full of fish!
You will have plenty of things to do to discover this city with its architecture influenced by History: arenas, Saint-Nazaire cathedral, Fonséranes locks, Pont-Vieux, Villa Antonine
